Sound as a Practice of Listening, Presence, and Care
This immersive, structured training explores sound, vibration, and the human voice as pathways into presence, nervous system regulation, and reconnection — offering a grounded foundation for bringing sound into personal, therapeutic, movement-based, or contemplative settings.
You’ll learn practical, accessible, and ethically grounded ways to work with your voice, simple instruments, crystal bowls, breath, and silence to support rest, emotional integration, and nervous system balance.
Rather than focusing on performance or musical skill, this training centers on listening, relationship, and care as core facilitation practices.
You’ll deepen your awareness of how sound moves through the body and nervous system, learn how to hold safe and supportive sound experiences for individuals and groups, and discover ways to weave sound thoughtfully into yoga, meditation, restorative practices, community spaces, family settings, or everyday life.
You’ll leave with confidence, connection, and a gentle trust in your capacity to listen, feel, and respond through music — with clear, practical tools to carry that light into your life and work.
No prior musical experience is required — just curiosity, a willingness to listen and try new things, and an openness to being shaped by sound.
This training offers grounded, nervous-system-aware skill development within an ethics-first container — you learn how to hold sound, not just how to "sound good."
Who is this for?
Yoga teachers, wellness practitioners, caregivers, ministry leaders, curious students, and anyone seeking a deeper relationship with sound as a support for presence and regulation.
Certification?
Upon completion, participants receive a certificate of completion demonstrating foundational skills in sound facilitation to support your personal and professional practice within appropriate scope.

What We’ll Explore...
🌿 Foundations & Awareness

Understand Nervous System–Aware Facilitation — pacing, safety, consent, and how sound affects nervous tone and emotional state.
🎤 Voice & Creative Expression
Work with Voice, Toning, & Mantra — accessible vocal practices that support regulation, resonance, and connection without pressure to sing “well.”
Explore Color, Chakra & Sound — symbolic, experiential lenses for awareness, intention, and reflection.
🛠 Skills & Practice
Work with Crystal Singing Bowls, Harmonium + Other Sound Instruments — hands-on technique, sensitive layering, and intentional use.
Practice Holding Space — structuring sound experiences with ethical clarity, care, and grounded presence.
Develop Deep Listening & Presence — cultivate relational awareness rather than performance orientation.
🌱 Integration & Application
Weave Sound into Practice — thoughtful ways to integrate sound and mantra into yoga, meditation, restorative practices, family gatherings, and everyday life.
The Deeper Layers of This Work
Beyond technique, this training invites you into the subtle art of listening, sensing, and accompanying. We’ll weave together the practical, the ethical, and the felt experience of working with sound in community:
- How to offer sound with care, consent, and humility
- How to create spaces that feel safe, inclusive, and supportive
- How silence, pacing, and transitions shape experience as much as sound itself
- How to listen to group energy and respond rather than impose
- How to honor the limits of sound and know when to pause or refer
- How to tend to your own voice, nervous system, and inner resources
- How to trust your intuition and your unique sound language
You’ll learn not just what to do — but how it feels when sound settles the nervous system, invites presence, and creates spaciousness in the body.
About Katie
Katie Riley is the Creative Director of Sol Seek Yoga, a 500+ hour certified yoga teacher, professional musician, and Reiki Master with extensive experience in contemplative practices, embodied awareness, and community-based healing spaces. Her work integrates sound, breath, and somatic listening to support nervous system regulation, emotional integration, and deep rest.
She has studied mantra and harmonium under Grammy-nominated Snatam Kaur and her mother, Prabhu Nam Kaur, and brings a deep love for devotional and communal music into her work — including Taizé, vocal toning, and kirtan-inspired group song. Katie approaches music not as performance, but as relationship: music as a tool, a guide, and a way of life — whether that’s live music in yoga classes, group singing, or singing in the shower.
With a background spanning off-Broadway performance, pastoral music, and more than two decades of ministry and teaching, Katie has offered music for the dying and the living, for children and families, for teens, and now for the yoga and wellness community. She is a nationally published and in-house musician for Our Sunday Visitor and a public speaker who travels nationally to teach others how to bring the joy — and the tenderness — of music into their programs.
A graduate of Loyola Marymount University with a certification in Pastoral Music, Katie plays crystal bowls, harmonium, piano, guitar, and ukulele, and weaves voice, sound, and silence into trauma-aware, accessible experiences that invite rest, presence, and reconnection.
