Form to Embodiment

with Melanie Hyman and Marco Migliavacca

February 26-March 1, 2026

Katonah Yoga®️ — A practice of structure, imagination, and transformation

What makes Katonah Yoga®️ unique?

Katonah Yoga®️is system built on structure and imagination—solid enough to hold you, flexible enough to keep evolving.

It’s the grammar behind every pose: stable, shared, yet endlessly open to interpretation. Like a recipe that, once you’ve learned the steps, unfolds into infinite variations. Like the patterns of the universe: once you find the key, you begin to see the order, the rhythm, and how everything, in time, fits and falls into place.

Order and transformation. Rule and invention.

A map that doesn’t just describe a territory but brings it to life through embodiment—guiding you to navigate, reshape each practice, and adapt to any style.

What You Will Learn

Body as Architecture

  • Measure your proportions and adapt postures to your unique structure.
  • Fold and unfold the body like origami — accessing organs, glands & inner space.

Mapping the Inner Terrain

  • Explore the Magic Square to link form, function & personal narrative.
  • Organize time and space — stability within mobility, awareness within range.

Nature, Rhythm & Sequence

  • Design practices aligned with seasons, organs, and emotional cycles.
  • Refine practice through props + partnership to deepen support and clarity.

Language, Imagery & Teaching Transmission

  • Build metaphorical fluency to bridge body and mind through evocative cueing.
  • Transform your teaching — find lightness, precision, and meaningful direction.

Meet Your Trainers

Melanie Hyman

Melanie has been teaching, mentoring and training students throughout NYC for the past 17 years. She spent her childhood and young adult life studying gymnastics, movement and dance and has always found a tremendous amount of freedom, insight and joy through movement. Melanie graduated from Syracuse University where she created her own major combining movement, psychology and education. After completing a masters from NYU in dance and movement therapy, she pursued yoga as a way of transcending her love for movement into meditation.

In 2003 she was fortunate enough to find a mentor in Nevine Michaan at Katonah Yoga Center, where she has taught and been studying for over 16 years. With a strong focus on breath consciousness and alignment, drawing from multiple movement modalities and yoga traditions, Melanie encourages students to flow with depth, creativity and playfulness.
